Block-within-a-block tread architecture creates multiple independent biting edges that adapt grip to changing surface conditions — hard-pack, loose-over-hard, or sandy soil
Recessed carcass lets knobs flex at the base rather than shear off, preserving consistent traction and extending useful tire life across a full season of motos
Damping-control sidewall compound absorbs braking bumps and chatter, keeping the front end settled and predictable when the track gets rough
Tread pattern developed directly from AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross programs — real race feedback shapes the design
Front-specific engineering prioritizes steering precision and braking stability rather than trying to split duties with a rear
Intermediate-terrain sweet spot covers the widest range of track conditions, so you're not constantly swapping rubber between race days

Best For
Competitive Amateur
You're running local and regional motocross rounds where track prep varies from week to week. The MX3S front holds its own across different conditions without forcing you to gamble on a specialty tire every race day — reliable, consistent, and built to last a full season of regular competition.
Perfect Match
Aggressive Trail Rider
You ride off-road terrain with the same commitment you'd bring to a motocross track — fast, technical, and physical. The front-end stability and impact absorption here suit that hard-charging style on natural terrain where obstacles come at you quickly and front-wheel feedback matters.
Great Match
Soft/Sand Specialist
If your home track is deep sand or soft loam and that's all you ride, this intermediate tire will leave grip on the table. The Dunlop MX33 or MX12 are dialed for dedicated soft-terrain performance — worth the switch if your conditions are consistently that extreme.

Frequently Asked
The MX3S front is optimized for intermediate terrain — think hard-pack, loose-over-hard, and moderately soft surfaces. It's a strong all-arounder for tracks where conditions shift depending on weather or prep. If you're riding exclusively in deep sand or on bone-dry hardpack every single session, a more specialized option will give you a slight edge.
Instead of knobs tearing off under hard braking or lateral load, the recessed construction lets them flex and recover at the base. The practical result is more predictable grip as the tire wears and a longer window of strong performance before you need to replace it — useful if you're stretching a tire across multiple race weekends.
The front and rear MX3S tires are engineered together and complement each other well for balanced, predictable handling. That said, this front pairs cleanly with other quality intermediate rear tires if your local conditions call for a different tread pattern on the back. It's not a forced pairing.
Mileage depends heavily on rider weight, terrain hardness, and how hard you push — but most riders get 10 to 15 motos or solid practice sessions before grip starts to fall off noticeably. The recessed carcass helps it outlast conventional intermediate designs in that regard. Plan around your race schedule and inspect knob condition regularly.
It'll handle aggressive trail riding without complaint, but it's really tuned for motocross track conditions. If your riding involves serious rock gardens, extreme enduro sections, or slow technical single-track, a purpose-built enduro tire with reinforced sidewalls and different knob spacing will serve you better in those specific environments.
A 12–13 psi starting point works well for most motocross applications. Softer or sandier terrain can benefit from a couple of psi less to increase contact patch, while harder, more compacted tracks often feel sharper with pressure at the upper end of that range. Stay within Dunlop's rated pressure limits and fine-tune from there based on feel.
