Best For
Competition Off-Road Racer
If you're lining up for hare scrambles, enduros, desert races, or GNCC events, a single flat can torch an entire race day. The Dunlop Mousse removes that variable completely. Yes, it adds weight and has a replacement interval — serious racers build that into their prep schedule and don't think twice.
Perfect Match
Serious Trail Rider in Gnarly Terrain
Riding remote backcountry with no support crew and plenty of sharp rock fields or thorny brush? A flat out there isn't just inconvenient — it's a problem. The Dunlop Mousse gives hard-terrain trail riders the same puncture immunity as the pros, so you can focus on the line, not the liability.
Great Match
Casual Trail or Dual-Sport Rider
If your off-road riding is mostly maintained trails, occasional dirt detours, or mixed street-and-dirt adventure use, the mousse is likely overkill. The installation complexity, upfront cost, and replacement schedule outweigh the benefits at this intensity level. Heavy-duty tubes or a quality tubeless setup will serve you better.
Consider heavy-duty tubes or tubeless tire systems

Frequently Asked
That depends on how hard you ride and what you ride over, but most racers plan on swapping mousses every 4–6 months of regular competition use. Over time the foam compresses and hardens, which shifts the effective pressure feel and overall tire behavior. Keep in mind the 2-year shelf life applies to storage before installation — not how long it stays fresh once it's mounted and running.
No — and this is a hard line. Dunlop's mousse is competition off-road use only. At sustained street speeds it generates excessive heat, wears down fast on pavement, and the fixed 13 psi equivalent doesn't translate to safe or predictable street tire behavior. If you're riding any amount of pavement, use a proper tube or tubeless setup.
You'll want heavy-duty tire irons — mousse-specific designs make the job easier — plus the installation grease that ships with the mousse. Warming the insert slightly with a heat gun or warm water makes it more pliable and easier to work in. It's more involved than swapping a tube, but it's manageable with the right tools and some patience.
Simple: match the mousse size designation directly to your tire size. A 110/90-19 mousse goes with a 110/90-19 tire — both the width and rim diameter need to align. Running a mismatched size creates installation headaches at best and a compromised, potentially unsafe setup at worst. When in doubt, call us at (714) 516-9059 and we'll sort it out.
Heavy-duty tubes reduce flat risk — mousse eliminates it. No rock, thorn, or pinch impact is going to deflate a foam insert. In competition, one flat is usually race over, so that difference matters enormously. The trade-off is higher cost and a scheduled replacement interval, but for racers chasing podiums, the reliability is non-negotiable.
Not typically. The grease applied at installation does its job during fitment and early break-in, then distributes and settles as the mousse seats in. Fresh grease only comes into play when you're installing a new mousse. If you're swapping a worn tire but reusing the mousse, adding a small amount of grease at that point is a good idea.
