Best For
Trail Explorer
You're out all day covering desert washes, forest singletrack, and rocky climbs — sometimes all on the same ride. The Bighorn Radial's multi-surface design and radial comfort make it the kind of tire you mount and forget, confident it'll handle whatever the trail throws at you without turning into a liability by mile 40.
Perfect Match
Weekend Warrior
You hit mixed conditions most weekends — hardpack fire roads, a little loose dirt, the odd muddy section, and plenty of rocks. You want predictable grip and tires that hold up across seasons, not a specialty setup that only shines in one scenario. The Bighorn earns its keep by being competent everywhere you actually ride.
Great Match
Mud Specialist
If deep, sticky mud is your primary playground — think swamp runs or extreme bog terrain — you'll want a dedicated mud tire with taller, wider-spaced lugs engineered specifically for maximum self-cleaning action. The Bighorn Radial handles moderate mud well, but a purpose-built mud tire will outperform it when conditions get truly nasty.

Frequently Asked
In a radial tire, the internal cords run perpendicular to the travel direction, which lets the sidewall and tread flex somewhat independently. On the trail, that translates to better absorption of trail chatter and rocks, more even tread wear over time, and a noticeably smoother ride compared to a traditional bias-ply tire. Bias-ply tires use crisscrossed cords that stiffen the sidewall — useful for heavy loads or hardcore rock crawling, but generally harsher to ride on all-day trail adventures.
The Bighorn Radial manages moderate mud competently — its tread evacuates well enough to maintain traction through occasional slop. Where it gives ground to dedicated mud tires is in the deep, thick stuff: those tires run deeper lugs spaced farther apart specifically to self-clean under heavy clay and muck. If your rides are predominantly desert-to-dirt-to-rock with mud in the mix, the Bighorn is the right call. If every weekend is a bog run, look at a purpose-built mud tire instead.
Start with your owner's manual or read the size off your current tire's sidewall. The Bighorn Radial spans 26–29" diameters in 12–14" wheel fitments, covering most sport ATVs and side-by-sides. If you're considering going up a size from stock, physically check clearance at full suspension compression and steering lock — a few extra inches of tire can contact fender wells or A-arms if there's not enough room.
Tread life is always terrain- and rider-dependent, but the Bighorn Radial scores well for longevity in its class. The radial construction promotes more uniform wear than bias-ply tires, and riders running mixed terrain with properly maintained inflation consistently report solid mileage. High-speed desert runs and sharp-edged rock crawling will accelerate wear; moderate trail use with routine pressure checks is where these tires really stretch their life.
Balancing matters more than most riders expect, especially once speeds climb into the open-terrain range. An unbalanced radial tire will transmit more vibration through the steering and can cause handling fatigue on longer rides. The Bighorn Radial's smoother radial design actually benefits more from a proper balance job than a stiffer bias-ply would. For side-by-sides and larger sport ATVs used in desert or high-speed environments, we always recommend balancing at the time of mounting.
It handles technical and rocky trails very well — the extended shoulder lugs are specifically designed to take rock strikes that would damage a conventional sidewall, and the radial casing conforms better over irregular surfaces than a bias-ply. For the most extreme rock crawling — where riders air down aggressively and need maximum sidewall flex and puncture resistance above all else — a dedicated rock crawler tire may be the right specialized tool. For everything short of that, the Bighorn Radial is a proven, capable choice on technical terrain.
