Specialized Groove Channel Technology (SGCT) builds shoulder blocks 3x more durable than the previous D803GP design, resisting chunking and tearing under hard side-loading
Oil-rich High Adhesion Compound stays pliable across a wide temperature range, keeping grip consistent from cold morning starts to sustained technical sessions
Carbon-enhanced compound converts impact energy into localized heat, helping the rubber flow into slick rock faces, wet roots, and polished obstacles for a larger mechanical contact patch
Block pattern balances void ratio for self-cleaning with tight edge density for maximum bite — purpose-designed for trials and extreme slow-speed terrain, not general trail riding
DOT-approved construction allows street-legal dual-sport registration, though street performance is intentionally secondary to technical off-road capability
Engineered for ultra-low operating pressures (4–8 PSI range) without excessive sidewall collapse, letting trials riders dial in traction for specific terrain and rider weight

The TL01 is built for one job — trials and extreme technical terrain — and it does that job exceptionally well. Not the tire for your commute.

Best For
Trials Competitor
You're running observed trials sections or extreme enduro events where every rock, root, and creek crossing demands precision. Low-speed hook-up and predictable traction control matter infinitely more to you than tread life or highway miles.
Perfect Match
Technical Trail Specialist
Your rides include gnarly rock gardens, steep technical climbs, and technical single-track where a general knobby just spins and prays. You know you're trading longevity for the kind of grip that actually gets you through the hard stuff.
Great Match
Adventure / Dual-Sport Rider
If your riding mixes pavement, gravel roads, and moderate trail, the TL01's specialized compound and block pattern will feel like overkill in some situations and compromised in others. A more balanced tire fits your needs better.

Frequently Asked
Not really — the TL01 was built specifically for trials competition and extreme technical terrain. It carries a DOT stamp, so it's street-legal, but its compound and block geometry prioritize ultra-low-speed traction over high-speed stability, pavement handling, and tread life. Riders who split time between road and trail are better served by a purpose-built dual-sport option like the Dunlop D606.
Shorter — that's the honest answer. The oil-rich compound and soft block structure that make this tire exceptional on technical terrain are not wear-life-optimized. Trials riders generally accept that trade-off as part of the performance equation. If mileage is a priority, this isn't your tire.
Dunlop engineered internal groove channels within the shoulder blocks to distribute lateral stress more evenly when you're pivoting, side-loading, or muscling through an obstacle. The result is significantly reduced block tearing and chunking compared to the previous D803GP design — three times more durable, without sacrificing the flexibility needed for technical grip.
This tire isn't designed for that environment. The TL01's compound and block pattern are dialed in for low-speed precision, obstacle grip, and slick-surface traction — not the high cornering loads and aggressive acceleration of a motocross track. Running it there would underperform and wear unevenly.
Dunlop's carbon particles absorb impact energy and convert it to heat within the compound itself. That localized warmth helps the rubber deform and conform to micro-texture on polished rock faces, wet roots, and glazed surfaces — effectively growing the contact patch right where you need it most. It's the same principle that makes the compound feel almost sticky on technical terrain.
Most trials riders operate in the 4–8 PSI range depending on terrain, obstacle type, and rider weight. The TL01's construction handles these low pressures without the sidewall collapse you'd see in a standard knobby. Start on the conservative end and work down based on feel — lower pressure means more contact patch but more risk of pinch flats on sharp edges.
