Best For
Trail Explorer
You spend weekends mixing technical rocky sections with open trail runs and need a tire that handles varied conditions without drama. The Bighorn 2.0's radial construction and non-directional pattern give you confidence across terrain types — and the wear life means you're not shopping for rubber every season.
Perfect Match
Property Manager
Your ATV earns its keep checking fence lines, hauling light loads, and the occasional trail run. You need something that lasts, hooks up on grass and dirt, and doesn't beat you up on harder surfaces. The Bighorn 2.0's durability scores and smoother radial ride make it a solid workhorse choice.
Great Match
Competitive Racer
If you're chasing podiums in GNCC or hare scramble events, the Bighorn 2.0's versatility is a liability — you need a purpose-built compound and tread engineered for race-pace aggression rather than all-day trail manners.

Frequently Asked
The 2.0 moves to a radial construction platform, which gives you better sidewall flex and improved shock absorption over the original's bias-ply design. Maxxis also trimmed down the profile, reducing rotational weight for snappier throttle response. The non-directional tread character carries over, but the overall package is meaningfully lighter and more refined.
It's built as a true mixed-terrain tire — hardpack trails, rocky climbs, rooted singletrack, and light mud are all in its wheelhouse. It's not a dedicated mud or sand specialist, but that's the point: you get one tire that handles whatever the trail throws at you without needing a swap between rides.
In a radial tire, the internal cords run perpendicular to the direction of travel, letting the sidewall flex independently from the tread area. That independent flex means a more consistent contact patch over uneven ground, better impact absorption, and noticeably less fatigue on long trail days. Bias-ply tires are stiffer overall — fine for some applications, but radial wins on comfort and terrain compliance.
It's physically possible, but we don't recommend it. Mismatched tread patterns, compounds, and construction methods create inconsistent handling — especially in corners and loose conditions where predictability matters most. Run a matched set of four for the handling behavior the tire was designed to deliver.
Radials generally run lower pressures than bias-ply tires — commonly in the 5–7 PSI range for trail riding — but always cross-check your ATV manufacturer's pressure specifications and factor in your load and terrain. Lower pressures let the radial casing do its job: conforming to the ground and absorbing impacts rather than bouncing off them.
Tread life depends heavily on terrain type, riding aggression, and whether you're airing down consistently. Recreational trail riders running mixed terrain typically see multiple seasons out of a set — the wear life score reflects that the Bighorn 2.0 is genuinely one of the longer-lasting options in its class. Maxxis's rubber compound and radial construction both contribute to that longevity.
