Best For
Backcountry Explorer
You're putting together a purpose-built off-road machine for fire roads, remote trails, and multi-day expeditions where sidewall toughness and dirt traction matter more than anything. Pavement is just the way to get to the trailhead — and you're fine with that trade-off.
Perfect Match
Custom Off-Road Builder
You're spec'ing out a specialty rig for rock crawling, desert bashing, or extreme terrain work and you need a tire that punishes obstacles rather than the other way around. You already know aggressive off-road rubber plays by different rules — and that's exactly the point.
Great Match
Dual-Sport Street Rider
If your days are split between commuting, canyon roads, and the occasional trail, the Roxxzilla is going to fight you on the pavement half — expect noise, faster wear, and handling that's tuned for dirt, not asphalt. A proper dual-sport tire will serve you much better in mixed-use situations.

Frequently Asked
Technically yes, but the Roxxzilla is purpose-built for off-road terrain — not pavement. On the street you'll deal with elevated road noise, reduced fuel efficiency, and a faster wear rate than any conventional street tire. If your riding is primarily paved with occasional dirt, a true dual-sport tire is a better fit.
The multi-layer sidewall construction is engineered to resist punctures from sharp rocks and technical obstacles that would compromise a standard tire immediately. The sidewall lugs also provide active traction when the tire flexes against rock faces during crawling maneuvers. Add dual-layer shoulder construction on top of that and you've got serious protection for serious terrain.
Wide gaps between the tread blocks let mud, gravel, and debris clear out quickly so the lugs keep biting instead of glazing over with packed material. It's why the Roxxzilla performs so well in loose, transitional conditions. That same open pattern is what causes more noise on pavement — it's a deliberate engineering trade-off, not a flaw.
Rim diameter, wheel well clearance, and how you plan to use the machine are your three main variables. Bigger diameters in the 35–37-inch range give you more ground clearance and better obstacle roll-over, but they add rotational weight and may need suspension adjustments. The 30–32-inch range is easier to live with day-to-day while still delivering full Roxxzilla performance in the dirt. Come by MTC and we can walk through fitment for your specific setup.
In the dirt and on technical terrain — where this tire is designed to work — wear life is competitive with other aggressive off-road options. On pavement, the soft compound and open tread design will wear down faster than a street or touring tire. The more asphalt miles you put on it, the shorter the service life, so honest use-case matching matters here.
Mixing tire types across axle positions is generally not recommended — different tread patterns and construction methods create inconsistent handling that can catch you off guard in demanding terrain. For a dedicated off-road build, running matched Roxxzillas front and rear gives you the most predictable performance. If you're unsure about your specific application, give us a call at (714) 516-9059 and we'll talk through it.
