Wider, longer tread blocks expand the contact patch for added cornering stability and confidence on long sweepers or tight canyon runs
Tighter longitudinal knob spacing keeps off-road bite intact without sacrificing the smooth, predictable feel you need on the highway
Engineered heat dissipation prevents knob tearing at sustained highway speeds — a real-world fix for a known adventure-tire weak point
Rally-derived block geometry pulled from Pirelli's competition program translates into pavement precision with genuine dirt-road capability
Optimized profile maintains stability through a wide range of lean angles, whether you're scraping pegs on a canyon road or picking a line on hardpack

Best For
Adventure Commuter
You're on your adventure bike five days a week cutting through Orange County traffic, and on weekends you're hunting down fire roads in the Santa Ana Mountains or pointing it toward Palomar on a gravel detour. You need a tire that handles both without drama — the Scorpion Rally STR is built exactly for that kind of riding.
Perfect Match
Sport-Touring Explorer
You rack up serious highway miles connecting mountain passes and canyon roads, and you're not afraid to dip onto a dirt road when it leads somewhere worth seeing. You want high-speed stability and solid wet-weather confidence as your baseline, with just enough off-pavement capability to keep your options open.
Great Match
Serious Off-Road Adventurer
If more than half your riding is on technical dirt, loose gravel, or trail conditions that demand an aggressive knob pattern, the STR's street-biased design will hold you back. Step up to the full Pirelli Scorpion Rally or a comparable 50/50 tire built to tackle the rough stuff first.

Frequently Asked
The silica compound gives this tire wet grip that competes with plenty of sport-touring tires — a serious step up from old-school dual-sport rubber. Water evacuation is efficient for a block-tread design, though if you're riding in heavy rain on pure pavement, a dedicated sport-touring tire will still edge it out slightly. For mixed-surface adventure riding in SoCal's unpredictable weather, it's more than capable.
Plan on roughly 6,500 to 8,500 miles depending on your riding habits, bike weight, and how much of that is pavement versus dirt. Hard-charging riders on heavy adventure bikes will wear through the rear faster, while lighter machines ridden at a relaxed touring pace can stretch closer to the upper end. The rear goes before the front — that's normal in this category.
It handles spirited street riding and twisty road sessions with confidence — the expanded contact patch and optimized profile help a lot there. That said, it's not engineered for track days or maximum lean-angle abuse; the compound and block design are built around versatility rather than outright grip. If you're chasing lap times, you want a pure sport tire.
Gravel roads, hardpack dirt, and maintained fire trails — yes, comfortably. Technical single-track, deep sand, or mud — that's where it runs out of talent. The Scorpion Rally STR is optimized for the 20-30% of riding that goes off-pavement, not for riders who treat the dirt as their primary surface.
At standard street pressures (typically 36–42 PSI depending on your bike and load), the STR performs well on both surfaces without fussing. If you're spending extended time on gravel or hardpack, dropping 2–4 PSI can improve traction and smooth out the ride. One of the advantages of a street-biased tire like this is that you're not constantly adjusting pressure every time the surface changes.
There's a bit more road noise than you'd get from a fully slick sport-touring tire, especially on coarse pavement — that comes with the tread block territory. But it's meaningfully quieter and smoother than a 50/50 dual-sport. Most adventure bike riders with any wind protection at highway speeds will find the noise completely manageable on long hauls.
