Best For
Weekend Trail Explorer
You're on a mid-weight adventure bike, commuting during the week and hitting forest service roads or gravel passes on weekends. You need a tire that lasts, handles wet conditions without drama, and still digs in when the pavement ends. The Trail-XT is built for exactly this kind of split-surface riding.
Perfect Match
Dual-Sport Commuter
You put in real street miles but won't pass up a dirt road detour or fire trail when the opportunity shows up. The Trail-XT's durability and wet-weather capability make it a sensible daily runner, and you're fine trading a bit of pavement sharpness for genuine off-road confidence.
Great Match
Sport-Touring Enthusiast
If canyon carving, lean angle feedback, and sport performance are your priorities and dirt is rarely on the agenda, the Trail-XT isn't your tire. Its strengths are versatility and longevity, not maximum dry grip or corner-exit bite. A dedicated sport-road tire will serve you far better.
Consider Avon 3D Supersport or similar sport-road tire

Frequently Asked
Absolutely. The Trail-XT carries an H-speed rating good to 130 mph, and its flat profile keeps vibration and wear in check on extended tarmac runs. It's optimized for a roughly 70% on-road / 30% off-road split, so highway transfer sections between trail systems are no problem at all.
Riders typically see 6,000–8,000 miles from the rear depending on riding style, load, and how much of that is pavement versus dirt. Heavy luggage and aggressive off-road use will push you toward the lower end; highway-heavy riding can get you close to the top of that range.
The M+S rating and bi-directional block pattern give the Trail-XT solid all-weather credentials for a dual-sport tire. Wet pavement grip is competent and confidence-inspiring for the category. If you need maximum wet-weather sport performance on pure street use, a dedicated sport-touring tire will edge it out — but for mixed-surface year-round riding, the Trail-XT holds up well.
Mitas designed the front and rear Trail-XT as a matched pair for consistent handling balance across terrain types, and that's the recommended setup. That said, the rear can be run with other compatible adventure or dual-sport fronts. If you're building a new setup from scratch, running the matched set is the cleanest choice.
Both tires share the same longitudinal scoop-block DNA and 11mm lug depth, but the Trail-XT uses a heavier-duty compound tuned for more pavement time. The E-10 leans harder into off-road performance, while the Trail-XT is the better fit for riders who log significant highway miles between trail sections and want better wear life to show for it.
This listing is for the rear-specific Trail-XT. Mitas does offer a matching front tire in the same Enduro Trail-XT line, engineered to complement the rear's tread pattern and handling characteristics. Ask us at MTC and we'll get you set up with the complete pair.
