Tall, widely-spaced knob geometry sheds mud and loose debris fast — keeps the tire clearing itself through every sloppy, rooted section
Hooked side-knob profile bites harder under corner-exit acceleration, giving you drive when the terrain gets loose and unpredictable
Reinforced carcass with pliable sidewalls soaks up rock strikes and root impacts without sacrificing straight-line tracking under power
Green stripe enduro compound tuned for soft-to-medium terrain — mud, loam, and loose-over-hard conditions — with enough durability to finish a full event
Super Light construction trims unsprung weight, letting your suspension do its job on technical single-track instead of fighting tire mass
MITAS's proven chunking resistance holds knobs together in rocky sections where softer competition tires tear apart mid-race

Best For
Technical Trail Specialist
You're on a dual-sport or enduro machine and the pavement is strictly a means to reach the trailhead. Single-track is your office, and you need a tire that clears mud, hooks up in loam, and disappears under you when it matters. Street buzz and fast wear are non-issues — dirt traction is the only scorecard that counts.
Perfect Match
Hard Enduro Competitor
You're lining up for enduro events where the terrain punishes everything — rocks, roots, and relentless technical sections. You need a tire that won't chunk apart mid-event and will still find traction when conditions go from bad to brutal. Wear life takes a back seat to race-day reliability and grip when the trail gets ugly.
Perfect Match
Balanced Dual-Sport Rider
Your riding is closer to a 50/50 split — gravel roads, fire roads, and a meaningful amount of street mileage mixed with occasional dirt. A pure competition tire like this one will fight you on pavement, wear faster than you'd like, and feel vague at highway speeds. You'd be better served by something built for both worlds.

Frequently Asked
MITAS uses stripe colors to identify compound families across their off-road lineup. The green stripe marks their technical enduro compound — a formulation engineered for soft to medium terrain like mud, loam, and loose-over-hard conditions. It's not a sand compound or a hard-pack compound; it's the versatile enduro option that balances terrain grip with enough durability to survive a full cross-country or hard enduro event.
It means this tire tolerates pavement — it doesn't prefer it. You'll get the aggressive knobby experience on asphalt: noise, slightly vague steering, and wear that moves faster than on dirt. Short street transfers between trail sections are fine. If your actual riding is closer to half-and-half, this tire will frustrate you on the road side of the equation and you should look at a purpose-built dual-sport tread instead.
Soft to medium terrain is where this tire earns its keep — mud, loam, and that classic loose-dirt-over-harder-base condition that enduro courses love. The wide knob spacing keeps the tread clearing itself so you maintain grip through prolonged muddy sections. It handles hardpack adequately, but if your local trails are predominantly dry and rocky, a harder-compound enduro tire might serve you better on the longevity side.
Reducing unsprung weight — the mass your suspension has to control — lets your forks and shock react faster to terrain changes. On technical single-track where the front wheel is constantly finding rocks, roots, and drops, that quicker suspension response translates directly to better traction and less arm pump. On smaller-displacement enduro and dual-sport bikes, the proportional effect of that weight reduction is even more pronounced.
It's one of the reasons enduro riders trust the MITAS platform. Running a soft compound in rocky terrain is a recipe for torn knobs on most tires, but the Terra Force-EX SM's carcass and compound construction are specifically developed to resist that kind of tearing under load. You can push through technical rock gardens without watching your tread peel apart — that durability is baked into the design, not just marketing language.
The EX SM is the current-generation successor to the Terra Force MX-SM (the green and yellow stripe version), along with the older C-18 rear and C-19 front models. MITAS carried forward the core strengths of those competition-proven platforms and refined the tread geometry, carcass construction, and profile based on real feedback from enduro and cross-country competition. If you were running any of those older models, the EX SM is the direct upgrade.
