Dual-compound front and rear construction places the right rubber exactly where grip demand peaks — edge zones for lean, center for straight-line stability
Pressure-adaptive performance envelope: run street pressures for the ride in, drop to 33F/30R warm on track and unlock a completely different grip level
Evolved FLASH tread pattern maintains a consistent contact patch across the full lean-angle spectrum for uniform thrust from upright to fully tipped
Profile geometry engineered to deliver sharp, confident turn-in without sacrificing the mid-corner stability needed at real track pace
DOT-approved and street-legal out of the box — no trailer required, no compromise on your morning ride to the circuit
Compound formulated to build heat quickly on track while staying predictable during the lower-temperature conditions of street riding

Best For
Track Day Regular
You're at the circuit six or more times a season, you know your warm-up lap protocol, and you're managing pressures trackside. The SP-V4 was designed for exactly this rider — intermediate to advanced pace, consistent feedback, and the ability to ride from your garage to pit lane without swapping rubber.
Perfect Match
Aggressive Street Enthusiast
Canyon carving is your weekend religion and you want a tire that rewards commitment. The SP-V4's quick heat buildup and progressive breakaway characteristics make it a serious performer on mountain roads. Just go in eyes open — wet days and high mileage aren't where this tire shines.
Great Match
Commuter / Touring Rider
If your priority list starts with all-weather reliability, long tread life, and predictable wet-road behavior, the SP-V4 will frustrate you before it impresses you. A sport-touring tire like the Angel GT II or Road 5 will serve your real-world riding far better.
Consider Pirelli Angel GT II or Michelin Road 5

Frequently Asked
For street riding, use the pressures listed on your bike's placard — typically around 36 front and 42 rear cold, though always confirm for your specific machine. At the track, Pirelli targets 33 psi front and 30 psi rear measured warm after heat cycles. These aren't suggestions — proper pressure management is what makes the SP-V4's dual-personality compound actually work.
At intermediate pace, most riders get three to five full track days before they notice meaningful grip degradation. Push harder in the advanced group and plan on two to three days per set. Street miles between sessions spread the wear budget further, but if longevity is your main concern, this isn't your tire.
Warmers aren't mandatory, but they're a smart investment if you're running advanced-group pace or riding in cooler temperatures. The SP-V4 will generate heat through disciplined sighting and warm-up laps, but warmers put you at operating temperature from the moment you exit pit lane — which matters when lap times are on the line.
Honestly, it doesn't match up — and it's not trying to. The SP-V4 scores a 7.4 for wet grip, which is workable for light rain on the street, but the shallower tread depth and track-biased compound aren't optimized for heavy wet conditions. If you're regularly riding in Southern California's winter rain, a dedicated sport-touring tire is a safer long-term call.
It can, with realistic expectations. Street pressures keep it cooperative around town, but the softer compound burns through faster than a sport-touring tire under daily mileage. Below about 50°F the compound takes longer to come up to temperature, which matters on cold Orange County mornings. For a pure commuter, there are smarter options — but for a rider who commutes and tracks, it's a legitimate choice.
Pirelli updated the FLASH tread pattern geometry for more consistent contact patch behavior across lean angles, revised the compound formulation to expand the effective heat range, and refined the profile shape for a sharper initial turn-in. Riders who've run both generations report the V4 feels more planted mid-corner and communicates the limit more progressively before it lets go.
