METZELER Motorcycle Tires
160 years of German tire engineering — every compound, every category, in stock.
Metzeler is one of the most complete motorcycle tire brands on the market, full stop. From the Racetec™ RR carving Laguna Seca to the KAROO™ 4 grinding through Baja silt, to the ME 888 Marathon™ Ultra logging six-figure miles on a bagger — this is a brand that doesn't cut corners in any segment. If you ride it, Metzeler has engineered a tire specifically for how you ride it.
MTC stocks all 32 Metzeler families because our customers span the full spectrum: sport riders, ADV tourers, cruiser pilots, scooter commuters, and off-road racers. We carry it all at below-MSRP pricing, and our techs mount and balance walk-ins the same day. Call (714) 516-9059 or stop by our Orange shop — we'll have the right Metzeler on your rim before you ride home.
Heritage
Metzeler was founded in Munich in 1863 — originally manufacturing rubber goods before pivoting to bicycle and motorcycle tires in the early 20th century. By the mid-1900s the brand had established itself as a force in European road racing, supplying tires to factory teams across GP circuits. Pirelli acquired Metzeler in 1986, but the brand retained its own identity, engineering team, and product lines. That Pirelli-backed R&D infrastructure is exactly why Metzeler can credibly compete from dirt enduros to superbike track days to long-haul touring — very few brands can say the same.
MTC’s Take
Metzeler sits in the upper tier of what MTC carries — not quite the pure race-focused niche of a Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa, but broader and arguably more useful for 90% of riders. The Racetec™ RR and Sportec™ M9 RR are legitimate track tires that also survive street use; the Roadtec™ 02 and Tourance™ Next 2 are benchmark sport-touring compounds that routinely outperform more expensive alternatives. Where Metzeler earns its place on our shelves is consistency: you rarely get a bad tire across the range. The lower-rated families — Lasertec™, Block™ C, Perfect ME 77™ — aren't weak tires, they're simply older designs with narrower fitment use cases. Compared to Michelin, Metzeler matches up well on grip and longevity while offering deeper catalog coverage for cruiser and adventure fitments. Against Dunlop, Metzeler generally wins on sport-touring feel. It's a brand serious riders trust precisely because the engineering doesn't change based on marketing cycles.

What's the difference between the Sportec™ M7 RR and the Sportec™ M9 RR?
The M9 RR is Metzeler's current flagship sport tire — newer compound, wider operating temperature range, and better edge grip for aggressive canyon and track use. The M7 RR is still a capable sport tire and often a smarter buy if you're primarily street riding with occasional track days. MTC carries both; we'll tell you straight which one fits your riding style and budget.
Is the KAROO™ 4 actually rideable on pavement or is it strictly off-road?
The KAROO™ 4 is purpose-built for serious off-road — think dirt, gravel, and trails as the primary environment. On pavement it's manageable but not comfortable for long slabs; that's what the KAROO™ 4 Street is for. If you're 60/40 or more street-biased, we'd steer you toward the Tourance™ Next 2 or the KAROO™ Street variant instead.
How long does the ME 888 Marathon™ Ultra actually last on a heavyweight cruiser?
Real-world mileage varies by load, riding style, and pavement, but 15,000–20,000+ miles on the rear is common for cruiser riders running a steady touring pace. It's one of the longest-wearing cruiser tires we stock, and the ME 888 Marathon™ Ultra Reinforced adds load capacity for two-up or heavy-bagger use without sacrificing that mileage.
Does MTC stock Metzeler tires for scooters, or just full-size bikes?
We carry both the Feelfree™ and Roadtec™ Scooter families — Metzeler's dedicated scooter lines for urban commuting and highway-capable scoots respectively. Walk in with your scooter and we'll mount same day. Scooter fitments often get overlooked at other shops; we take them just as seriously.
How does Metzeler pricing at MTC compare to buying online?
We sell Metzeler below MSRP, and when you factor in shipping, hazmat fees, and the cost of finding someone to mount a tire you bought elsewhere, MTC is almost always the better deal. You also get our techs doing the install — riders who know these tires, not a general auto shop guessing at motorcycle rim specs.
